Abstract

With the objective of investigating the perception of children and teens of the 4th and 5th year of a school in the Municipal Network of Picos / Piauí (PI) about the values transmitted by the city, the idea of Educating City and its contribution to the ethical and moral developmentof these young people, as a space for the formation of values. A qualitative research was carried out, using the childrenand teens drawing and the semi-structured interview as research instruments. The results showed the absence of positive values, pointing the lack of leisure and investment spaces that build a democratic city, which allows the experience of values essential to the collective coexistence and the social formation of the individuals who live in the city,without distinction of classes, aiming at improving the quality of life. It is concluded that, in the children and teens perception, the city of Picos-PI needs effective public policies for the construction of an Educating City.
