An unbalanced study routine can affect academic performance and trigger emotional disorders such as stress, anxiety, and depression. Traditional Chinese Medicine encompasses several therapeutic aspects that are promising allies in the treatment of these disorders. One of them is acupuncture, a very popular practice whose technique is based on the principle of applying small needles to specific points on the body. The present study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating stress, anxiety, and depression in academics. Questionnaires referring to the DASS-21 test were applied to assess the level of stress, anxiety, and depression of patients and cortisol measurement using the chemiluminescence method before and after acupuncture sessions. The points used were VG 20, Yintang, P9, CS6, CS7, C7, R3, R9, F2, F3, F8, and E36 with stimulation for around 20 minutes, once a week. Volunteers reported improved mood, reduced stress, greater emotional stability, and a feeling of well-being. In addition to the emotional benefits, the practice of acupuncture also helped to reduce muscle pain, data that points to its effectiveness in physical and mental health.
