Syphilis is a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) widely known in Brazil and easy to treat, but with little control in recent years, still being an important public health problem. The aim of this study was to evaluate the epidemiological characteristics and conditioning factors of notified cases of acquired and congenital syphilis in the city of Palmas - PR. The methodology is based on an epidemiological, descriptive, retrospective exploratory survey of a cross-sectional and qualitative nature, through a database obtained by the Surveillance of Epidemiology of Notifications SINAN-NET, referring to the notified cases of congenital syphilis and acquired syphilis. in residents in the municipality of Palmas - Paraná from January 2015 to December 2017. The results of the research showed a total of 159 cases of acquired syphilis recorded between the years 2015 to 2017 in the municipality of Palmas / PR, standing out the considerable increase of 36% of the cases notified in the year 2017. The number of notified cases of acquired syphilis was higher for females, with a difference of eight percent (8%) between genders for the three years. The highest rate of reported syphilis cases in pregnant women was 60% for the age group between 20 and 29 years old and 35.4% for those with incomplete elementary education. The non-treatment of the partners is due to the lack of attendance at the health unit and the lack of post-contact with the pregnant woman. Congenital syphilis increased significantly in 2017 (51%) with a greater concentration in the Lagoão neighborhood. Treatment records for all years were inadequately presented by patients, showing a lack of effectiveness, and still presenting themselves as a serious public health problem. For future research, campaigns disseminated in each neighborhood are suggested, with greater frequency and increased attention in the neighborhoods with the highest rates.
